Summary of new poliovirus cases this week

New cases of poliovirus have been reported in Afghanistan (1 case of VDPV1), Madagascar (1 case of VDPV1), Nigeria (3 cases of VDPV3), Somalia (2 cases of VDPV2), and South Sudan (1 case of VDPV1). In addition, environmental samples tested positive for VDPV1 in Afghanistan (11 samples) and VDPV2 in Somalia (3 samples).
